Does anyone know the minimum deposit at the sites most important trade stocks online?

I would love to invest and the mind i wouldnt for diamonds in the rough and that sort of thing, i dont have a lot of money (is that I am a student and I really want to start small and eventually go big with some investments in securities), I am aware of the committees of most companies, but I know there is some margin requirements (such as Ameritrade td is about 2 thousand dollars, and Scott trade is 5,000 or something, but all I heard IVE), but if someone could clarify this for me and tells me Minimum deposit for online commerce sites such as etrade, Ameritrade ScottTrade, TD, and other sites that others can not know.
